| H.E U Kyi Thein attended the 3rd North East Business Summit The 3rd North East Business Summit, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Development of North East Region of the Government of India and Indian Chamber of Commerce, was held in the Hotel Ashok, New Delhi from 10th April 2007 to 11th April 2007 and, H.E U Kyi Thein, Ambassador of the Union of Myanmar participated in the event. There were about 890 delegates attended the Summit. H.E Shri Bhairion Singh Shekhawat, Vice-President of India inaugurated the Summit and H.E Mr. Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister of Development of North-Eastern Region (DONER) chaired. In the course of 2 day-summit, H.E Mr. Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister of Development of North-Eastern Region (DONER) mainly focused on the high potential of the North-Eastern Region of India , Investment Opportunities, enjoying peace and stability and tourist destinations of the North-Eastern Region. Other participants also presented on their respective sectors in the North-Eastern Region such as Hydro-Power Projects, Thermal Power Projects, constructions of Business Hotels, Five Stars Hotels and resorts, Transportations, National Highway Projects, AirCel Company’s telecommunication tasks, Strategic Road Network, Airport and Inland water System Upgrading Process, Supporting of International Organization like World Bank and ADB and effectively utilizing of the loans and donated monetary and so on. It is encouraging to have learnt that following the summit, about 128 business companies submitted their proposals to invest in the North-Eastern Region. In particular, on 2nd day of the Business Summit, H.E Mr. Krirk-Krai Jirapaet, Minister of Commerce of Thailand graced the occasion and delivered an impressive speech. In his speech, he highlighted the existing close and friendly relations between Myanmar, India and Thailand and economic cooperation through India-Myanmar-Thailand Land-Road from Manipur State. He also stressed the importance of neighbouring country Myanmar’s role in BIMSTEC grouping and, for India and Thailand itself. During the occasion, H.E Mr. Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister of Development of North-Eastern Region (DONER) publicly spoke words of thanks to H.E U Kyi Thein for kindly participating at the Summit. | |
