| At the invitation of the Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, the Vice-President of the Republic of India H.E Shri M.Hamid Ansari and Wife paid an official Goodwill visit to Myanmar from 5 to 8 February 2009. VVIP Aircraft carried Vice-President and Indian Goodwill Delegation landed at Nay Pyi Taw Airport in Myanmar.Vice-President disembarked from the plain and Vice-Senior General welcome on the ground at the Airport Vice-President greeting Ambassador H.E U Kyi Thein and Wife at the Airport. Vice-President and Vice-Senior General inspected the Guard of Honour. Vice-President signed the Guest-Book at the Bayintnaung-Guest House at the Capital-Nay Pyi Taw. Vice- Senior General Maung Aye cordially received the visiting Vice-President at the Bayintnaung-Guest House at the Capital-Nay Pyi Taw. Official Bilateral Talks held at the Bayintnaung-Guest House MOUs singed following Bilateral Talks. Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, Senior General Than Shwe received the visiting Vice-President Vice-Senior General hosted an State Banquet in honour of the visiting Vice-President and, both leaders toasted at the Dinner. Vice Senior General handed Vice president in souvenir photo-album on the goodwill visit. Vice Present and party left Capital-Nay Pyi Taw for Yangon City by flight. Vice President and wife planted the goodwill visit-memorial tree in the Public square park in Yangon. Mayor of the Yangon City Brig Gen. Aung Thein Lin hosted a dinner in honour of visiting Vice President at the Traders Hotel in Yangon. Vice President cut the yellow-ribbon at the opening ceremony of the Myanmar-India Entrepreneurship Development Center in Yangon University in Hlaing Township, Yangon. Rector Doctor Kan Zaw gave the speech at the Ceremony and presented the souvenior gift to Vice-President.VicePresident visited the Computer Training Room in the Yangon University Campus, Hlaing Township, Yangon. Vice President visited the Library in the Yangon University Campus, Hlaing Township, Yangon. Vice President visited world-famous Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.Vice President offered the flowers at the Shwedagon Pagoda. Deputy Religious Minister presented the special gift to the visiting Vice-President. Vice-President visited the Late Indian Emperor Shah Zapha's Tomb in Dagon Township, Yangon. Vice-President and Wife visited White-Elephants residing at Insein Township in Yangon. Vice-President and party left Myanmar for India after completing successful goodwill visit to Myanmar. | |
